Ellipse-A: Miniature AHRS

Ellipse-A is a small-sized high performance Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS). It provides Roll, Pitch, Heading, and Heave data.

This light-weight sensor (45 grams) includes a MEMS-based Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) integrating three gyroscopes, three magnetometers, and three accelerometers. Running an extended Kalman filter (EKF), the Ellipse-A provides accurate orientation data in both static and dynamic conditions.

    Vibrations: Internal FIR filters coupled with Coning & Sculling integrals to provide efficient vibration rejection.

    Calibration: Intensively tested and calibrated from -40 to 85°C for consistent data in all conditions (the Calibration Report is shipped with the sensor).

    Iron Disturbances: Ellipse sensors are highly rugged to magnetic disturbances. To go even further, a magnetic calibration tool is embedded in the inertial sensor. It allows quick in-field soft and hard magnetic disturbances compensation.

    Ellipse-E: Miniature INS

    Ellipse-E is a small-sized high performance Inertial Navigation System. It provides Roll, Pitch, Heading, and Heave, and computes Navigation data when connected to an external GPS. It accepts Odometer aiding to maintain the best accuracy in challenging environments.

    This light-weight sensor (49 grams) includes a MEMS-based Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and runs an enhanced Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) which fuses inertial and aiding information to provide accurate real time orientation and navigation data.


    High Accuracy for Such a Small Sensor:

  • 0.2° Roll and Pitch over 360°
  • 0.5° Heading (When connected to GPS)
  • 10 cm Real-time Heave, adjusted to the wave period
  • Position accuracy depends on the external GPS

For Land applications, the Ellipse-E becomes a powerful dead reckoning solution when connected to an odometer.

    Ellipse-N: Miniature INS/GPS

    Ellipse-N is a small-sized high performance Inertial Navigation System (INS) with integrated GNSS receiver. It provides Roll, Pitch, Heading, Heave, and Navigation data.

    This light-weight sensor includes a MEMS-based Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) integrating three gyroscopes, three accelerometers, and three magnetometers. It runs an enhanced Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) which fuses inertial data with GNSS, Odometer, and DGPS information for excellent orientation and navigation data in the most challenging environments.

    Ellipse-N is a full-featured miniature inertial navigation sensor. It embeds the latest generation of GNSS receivers (GPS + GLONASS or GPS + BEIDOU) for a better satellite availability in harsh GPS environments (i.e urban canyons). In addition to provide accurate position and velocity, the GPS aiding allows the Ellipse-N to maintain accurate orientation even during long term accelerations. This advanced inertial sensor additionally accepts differential corrections for even more precise navigation data.

    Ellipse-D: Miniature Dual GPS INS

    Ellipse-D is a compact Inertial Navigation System with integrated Dual-antenna GNSS receiver for accurate Heading. It provides Roll, Pitch, Heading, Heave, and Navigation data.

    Ellipse-D includes a MEMS-based Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and runs an enhanced Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) which fuses inertial and GNSS data. Odometer and DGPS can be used as aiding inputs to further enhance the navigation solution. Ellipse-D will be available on Q1 2015.

    Ellipse-D has been designed to offer a compact and cost-effective solution when accurate heading is required. The dual antenna heading overcomes typical magnetic calibration issues and allows the Ellipse-D to be used in applications where the magnetic field is not reliable. This model is a little larger than the rest of the series because it integrates a Survey-grade L1/L2 GNSS receiver with two antennas for unmatched heading and position accuracy.
